Restaurant Bistro One In Dublin 18, Ireland

Everyone has their own idea of what a real authentic bistro should be and, for many years now, Bistro One has been ours!

Set in the heart of Foxrock village, just 15 km from Dublin City Centre, we are open for lunch and dinner 5 days a week from Tuesday to Saturday.

Our mission is to use, where possible, quality Irish ingredients, cooked in a simple manner with a European sensibility. Within that we try to source both organic and free range produce from small producers who are as passionate about what they do as we are about what we do.

In our kitchen, we work with the seasons i.e. asparagus is only available for 6/8 weeks, a shame but true. To this end we have a menu, that whilst always retaining our classic dishes, changes each month to reflect what each season has to offer. Whether it is raspberries hand picked down the road in Kilmacanogue or Sally Barnes’ award-winning smoked haddock, we want you to have it!

Our wine philosophy is a simple one - we want our customers to enjoy wine! And in that we boldly offer the entire wine list in carafes of 25cl and 50cl as well as full bottles. This in effect means that everyone can order exactly what they enjoy. Of course it also allows the more adventurous to try a premium wine without having to order a full bottle. Needless to say ... no more penalty cost for ordering half bottles as the 25cl and 50cl carafes are priced exactly one third and two thirds, respectively, of the bottle cost.

Our Lunch Menu is available from Tuesday to Saturday from 12 noon and together with its seasonal adjustments it changes weekly. It represents fantastic value @ €18 for 2 courses.

Dinner is also served 5 days, Tuesday-Saturday, from 6 PM and together with its seasonal menu, our customers can view the daily fish and specials on the restaurant’s blackboards.

On an earlier visit to London last year we tasted delicious rare breed English Pork and since then we have made it our mission to seek out an Irish equivalent. We are delighted to introduce two new Irish suppliers of this wonderful product. They are Joseph and Julie Delaney from Tullywood Farm, Co. Roscommon and Jill Dougan’s Moyallen Foods from Craigavon, Co. Armagh. Whether it is Gloucestershire Old Spots, Tamworth or Saddleback- this is pork as pork used to taste!

After the harvest Bistro One's Olive Oil Amadei Chocolate Factory

Our daily fish board is of course central to our philosophy and Peter Caviston has supplied us the finest produce over the last 16 years. Irish smoked fish is world renowned and in 2008 we added Sally Barnes’ award-winning Woodcock Smokery to our menu. Her smoked haddock, mackerel, herring and wild salmon are sensational.

November of 2008 saw the second harvest of our olives in Tuscany. Our young trees, another year older, produced a few more litres than last year! Whilst the general yield from the region was down on previous years, the quality was said to be far superior and of course we would have to agree. As is essential, we harvested and pressed on the same day and, 24 hours later, this wonderful young peppery olive oil was on the tables at Bistro One for all our customers to enjoy.

Restaurant Bistro One In Dublin 18, IrelandIn the summer of 2008 our research in chocolate took us to Amadei in Tuscany. Amadei is owned by brother and sister Alessio and Cecilia Tessieri. Alessio oversees the plantations in the tropics to maintain the integrity of supply and Cecilia is the maitre chocolatier back in Pontedara, Tuscany. We use their wonderful No.9 Neri 75% in our chocolate fondant- simply wow! World renowned chefs Heston Blumenthal and Thomas Keller swear by Amadei, we are delighted to say that we do to!
