The LIT Millennium Theatre with its avant-garde glass and steel structure is the perfect example of the quality of facilities learners can expect on campus. The 350 seat theatre presents concerts, recitals, drama, comedy, dance and live entertainment.
At the end of a busy day, every learner needs a comfortable place to unwind and mindful of this, learner accommodation developments have been designed and purposely built to accommodate learners in a friendly, safe village style environment in close proximity to the Institute.
There are also developments being undertaken to keep LIT’s teaching areas at the forefront of modern campuses. New Video & Sound and Built Environment laboratories have been completed at a cost of €1.7 million.
Government Budget Capital Investments have also paved the way for two new infrastructural projects at LIT which further enhances our campuses with a modern, learner friendly environment that architecturally reflects the aspirations and ethos of learners in the 21st century.
Work is completed on a €9 million refurbishment of the Limerick School of Art and Design keeping it at the cutting edge of design where it enjoys a leading global position, with learners continuing to win prizes all round, most notably the coveted Nokia Young Fashion Designers Award.
The Moylish campus will have a new €12.9 million, 4,100 sq m, Learning and Information Resource Centre (LIRC) developed. The existing library will be located in this new building which will be of exemplar design delivering sustainability; employing efficient construction processes, use of resources and waste management; with lighting, air quality and acoustics that foster active learning. The LIRC will have vastly increased book and reader space, internet support services, project meeting rooms, staff accommodation, open and distance learning facilities, all designed to support our educational philosophy of active learning.
