
One of the four constituent universities in Ireland it is situated 25 km west of Dublin in Ireland’s only university town. It has over 8,000 students of whom around 20% are postgraduates. It has 26 academic departments in 3 faculties, as well as three independent research institutes. Following two centuries of internationally renowned scholarly activity on the Maynooth campus the National University of Ireland, Maynooth was established under the 1997 Universities Act as an autonomous member of the federal structure known as the National University of Ireland. With approximately 8,400 registered students, NUI Maynooth has 26 academic Departments which are organized into three Faculties: Arts, Celtic Studies and Philosophy; Science and Engineering, and Social Sciences.
The International Office has been in place, here at NUI Maynooth, since 1997. Originally run by just one person, we have continued to grow and now consist of a number of friendly and diverse staff. We have a number of links with universities all over the world and we are constantly working to strengthen and improve these, while creating new ones at the same time.

Location & Transport :
NUI Maynooth is accessible by public transport from most parts of the country. The town is well served by two Dublin Bus routes, Dublin commuter and National rail links, Bus Eireann national bus routes as well as several private daily commuter and weekly coach routes. The university is located 15 miles from Dublin city centre and is also easily accessible by car.
