The Irish School of Natural Healing In Laois, Ireland

The Irish School of Natural Healing was founded in 2000. We believe that natural healing is a way of life and encourage our students to fully dedicate themselves to the principles of healing as taught at the School. We focus on cleansing the body and mind using organic vegan and living food programmes, herbal medicines, bodywork and environmental and lifestyle awareness.

Our central course is a 3½-4 year part-time training in Herbal Medicine with an emphasis on the use of Irish herbs in the tradition of European herbalism from Hippocrates and the Greek tradition down through medieval medicine and ethnic North American herbalism. Our inspiration is from the work of the world renowned herbalist Dr. John Ray Christopher. Dr. Christopher’s son David Christopher is a core teacher on the herbal programme.

Vitalist nutrition based on the use of living vegetarian food is central to the tradition of natural healing in Europe and North America. Dr. Brian Clement, Director of the Hippocrates Health centre in Florida is a core lecturer in our Nutrition and Natural Diagnostics programme. Our diagnostic tool is Iris Diagnosis.

Teachers include experts in their fields from Ireland and abroad. The School is located in the Old Rectory in the centre of Portlaoise, County Laois and facilities include a library, a herbal garden and a working herbal clinic where students can gain the clinical aspect of their studies.

An extensive and constantly developing online library is central to our students e-learning resource allowing for students daily participation in group conferencing on the web.

The School management and academic staff are committed to supporting the work of the National Register of Herbalists, other relevant professional bodies and the Department of Health and Education in setting standards of training for health care professionals.
