Clandeboye Golf Club In Down BT23 7PN, Ireland

Clandeboye Golf Club, situated in the country surrounds of Lady Dufferin's Estate, offers two courses of international standing. To compliment our two courses, Clandeboye also offers a new luxurious £1.5 million Clubhouse where comfort is central to your day, both on and off the course.

We are located above Conlig Village off the A21 between Bangor & Newtownards. Conlig is just two miles from Bangor. Before the dual carriageway was laid, the main road used to run through the village street, but visitor traffic is now largely limited to golfers en route to the two 18 hole championship courses of Clandeboye Golf Club. The most challenging of North Down's six golf clubs, Clandeboye, attracts top-class golfers and sporting greats including World Class Formula One racing driver, Eddie Irvine, who comes from Conlig.

There are lovely walks in the wooded countryside around the village. You may catch a glimpse of antlered deer grazing among the woodland plants. They are part of a herd long-established in the neighbouring Clandeboye Estate.

Clandeboye's clubhouse is a veritable Temple to the "golf possessed".

Throughout the past 77 years Clandeboye clubhouse has been radically modified to such an extent where it now bears little, indeed no resemblance, to the original single storey wooden structure which first occupied the site and which had so adequately served the needs of the comparatively few founder members.

The landscaped walkway across a lightweight first floor bridge not only establishes a new entrance, but also introduces a high-grade corporate identity.

Clandeboye Golf Club In Down BT23 7PN, IrelandThe new circular tower capped with glass block lantern forms certainly adds a new 'front' to the building and also enlivens what had previously been a very bland exterior. It immediately focuses attention on what is now a most impressive entrance lobby. Rivalling the foyer of a top-class modern hotel this core circulation area is filled with light. It expedites entry to the après-golf bars, restaurant and club management facilities on the first floor.

The path of circulation throughout the clubhouse is much improved and the combination of finishing colours, dramatic lighting and clean, clear detailing creates an atmosphere of cool sophistication.
